Côte d’Ivoire Deposits the Declaration Allowing Individuals Direct Access

The Republic of Côte d’Ivoire has deposited the declaration required under Article 34 (6) of the Protocol to the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights on the Establishment of an African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights, accepting the competence of the Court to receive cases from individuals and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) with observer status before the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights. Côte d’Ivoire is the seventh African Union member state to deposit the declaration after Burkina Faso, Malawi, Tanzania, Ghana, Mali, and Rwanda.
