The compliance hearing will be open for the public to attend.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Ogiek people are the indigenous community in Kenya who have depended on the Mau Forest in Kenya for their residence and as a source of livelihood for centuries. However, in 2009 the Kenya Forestry Service ordered the eviction of the Ogiek community from the Mau Forest. Subsequently, the Centre for Minority Rights Developments (CEMIRIDE) and Minority Rights Group International (MRGI), two NGOs acting on behalf of the Ogiek community submitted a complaint to the African Commission on Human and Peoples\u2019 Rights (the Banjul Commission) which was then transferred to the African Court on Human and Peoples\u2019 Rights in 2012. In its 2022 judgement, among other things, the African Court ordered recognition of the Ogiek as an indigenous people; it also ordered the Kenyan government to immediately reinstate the restrictions imposed on land transactions in the Mau Forest complex as a provisional measure. The 2022 African Court judgement can be found <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.african-court.org\/cpmt\/storage\/app\/uploads\/public\/62b\/aba\/fd8\/62babafd8d467689318212.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>HERE<\/strong><\/a><strong>. <\/strong><\/span><\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The 75<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0Ordinary Session of the Court which will run from 11 November to 6 December 2024, will also include a series of other events.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On Wednesday 13 November 2024, the Court will deliver judgments in the following ten (10) cases:<\/p><ol style=\"text-align: justify;\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.african-court.org\/cpmt\/details-case\/0122018\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Application No. 012\/2018, Glory Cyriaque Houssou v. Republic of Malawi<\/a><\/li><\/ol><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Both the Compliance Hearing on the Ogiek Case and delivery of judgments will commence at 10:00am (East African Time) and will be accessible via live streaming in both English and French. R\u00e9publique du Kenya<\/em>, connue sous le nom affaire Ogiek. L \u2018audience de conformit\u00e9 sera ouverte au public.<\/p><p>Le peuple Ogiek est une communaut\u00e9 autochtone du Kenya qui d\u00e9pend depuis des si\u00e8cles de la for\u00eat Mau au Kenya pour y vivre et en tire ses moyens de subsistance. Cependant, en 2009, le Service forestier du Kenya a ordonn\u00e9 l&#8217;expulsion de la communaut\u00e9 Ogiek de la for\u00eat Mau. Par la suite, le Centre for Minority Rights Developments (CEMIRIDE) et Minority Rights Group International (MRGI), deux ONG agissant au nom de la communaut\u00e9 Ogiek, ont d\u00e9pos\u00e9 une plainte aupr\u00e8s de la Commission africaine des droits de l&#8217;homme et des peuples (la Commission de Banjul), qui a ensuite \u00e9t\u00e9 transf\u00e9r\u00e9e \u00e0 la Cour africaine des droits de l&#8217;homme et des peuples en 2012. Dans son arr\u00eat de 2022, la Cour africaine a notamment ordonn\u00e9 la reconnaissance des Ogiek en tant que peuple autochtone ; elle a \u00e9galement ordonn\u00e9 au gouvernement kenyan de r\u00e9tablir imm\u00e9diatement les restrictions impos\u00e9es aux transactions fonci\u00e8res dans le complexe de la for\u00eat de Mau, \u00e0 titre de mesure provisoire.
