Lady Justice Imani Daud Aboud, and her delegation which included the Vice President, Hon. Justice Modibo Sacko, Hon Justice Duncan Gaswaga and Registry staff.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The two critical issues included in the agenda were the redeposit of Article 34(6) Declaration of the African Court Protocol by the government of Tanzania to allow direct access for individuals and NGOs to the African Court; and implementation of decisions of the Court by the Tanzania government. Tanzania withdrew the declaration under Article 34(6) of the African Court Protocol in November 2019, but it is still under the obligation to implement decisions of the Court for the cases filed up to November 2020.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On the redeposit of the Declaration, the government authorities assured the Court delegation that the issue is under review and consultation, and that Her Excellency Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassani, president of the United Republic of Tanzania, will be advised accordingly. Regarding implementation of the Court\u2019s decisions, the government acknowledged the Court\u2019s concerns and committed to ensure implementation. It was also highlighted that some of the Court\u2019s decisions have already been implemented and utilized in the ongoing Criminal Justice Reform efforts in Tanzania.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Coalition congratulates the African Court for this mission and encourages the government of Tanzania to take the necessary steps to re-deposit the declaration under Article 34(6) of the African Court Protocol to allow direct access to the Court for citizens of Tanzania upon exhaustion of local remedies. The Coalition also calls upon the Tanzanian government to implement decisions of the African Court and demonstrate leadership in the commitment and obligation to protect human rights in Africa.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.african-court.org\/wpafc\/the-african-court-on-human-and-peoples-rights-conducts-sensitization-visit-to-the-united-republic-of-tanzania\/?utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=es\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">CLICK ON THIS LINK<\/span><\/a> to access the whole report.\u00a0<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-tab-title elementor-tab-mobile-title\" aria-selected=\"false\" data-tab=\"2\" role=\"tab\" tabindex=\"-1\" aria-controls=\"elementor-tab-content-1292\" aria-expanded=\"false\">Visite de sensibilisation de la Cour africaine des droits de l'homme et des peuples en R\u00e9publique-Unie de Tanzanie<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-content-1292\" class=\"elementor-tab-content elementor-clearfix\" data-tab=\"2\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-1292\" tabindex=\"0\" hidden=\"hidden\"><p>Du 3 au 6 d\u00e9cembre 2024, la Cour africaine des droits de l&#8217;homme et des peuples (la Cour africaine) a effectu\u00e9 une visite de sensibilisation en R\u00e9publique-Unie de Tanzanie, visant \u00e0 renforcer le dialogue et \u00e0 am\u00e9liorer la compr\u00e9hension de son mandat ainsi que de son r\u00f4le dans la protection des droits de l&#8217;homme et des peuples \u00e0 travers le continent.<\/p>\n<p>La mission s\u2019est d\u00e9roul\u00e9e \u00e0 Dodoma et Dar es Salaam, sous la direction de la Pr\u00e9sidente de la Cour, l\u2019Honorable Dame Juge Imani Daud Aboud, accompagn\u00e9e de sa d\u00e9l\u00e9gation compos\u00e9e du Vice-Pr\u00e9sident, l\u2019Honorable Juge Modibo Sacko, de l\u2019Honorable Juge Duncan Gaswaga, ainsi que du personnel du Greffe.<\/p>\n<p>Deux questions cl\u00e9s figuraient \u00e0 l\u2019ordre du jour : le red\u00e9pot par le gouvernement tanzanien de la D\u00e9claration au titre de l\u2019Article 34(6) du Protocole de la Cour africaine, permettant l\u2019acc\u00e8s direct des individus et des ONG \u00e0 la Cour ; la mise en \u0153uvre des d\u00e9cisions de la Cour par le gouvernement tanzanien.<\/p>\n<p>La Tanzanie a retir\u00e9 sa D\u00e9claration au titre de l\u2019Article 34(6) du Protocole de la Cour africaine en novembre 2019, mais reste tenue d\u2019ex\u00e9cuter les d\u00e9cisions rendues par la Cour pour les affaires d\u00e9pos\u00e9es jusqu\u2019en novembre 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Concernant le red\u00e9p\u00f4t de la D\u00e9claration, les autorit\u00e9s gouvernementales ont assur\u00e9 \u00e0 la d\u00e9l\u00e9gation de la Cour que la question est en cours d\u2019examen et de consultation, et que Son Excellence Madame Samia Suluhu Hassan, Pr\u00e9sidente de la R\u00e9publique-Unie de Tanzanie, sera conseill\u00e9e en cons\u00e9quence. En ce qui concerne la mise en \u0153uvre des d\u00e9cisions de la Cour, le gouvernement a reconnu les pr\u00e9occupations de la Cour et s\u2019est engag\u00e9 \u00e0 assurer leur ex\u00e9cution. Il a \u00e9galement \u00e9t\u00e9 soulign\u00e9 que certaines d\u00e9cisions de la Cour ont d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e9t\u00e9 mises en \u0153uvre et int\u00e9gr\u00e9es dans les efforts en cours de r\u00e9forme de la justice p\u00e9nale en Tanzanie.<\/p>\n<p>La Coalition f\u00e9licite la Cour africaine pour cette mission et encourage le gouvernement tanzanien \u00e0 prendre les mesures n\u00e9cessaires pour red\u00e9poser la D\u00e9claration au titre de l\u2019Article 34(6) du Protocole de la Cour africaine, afin de permettre un acc\u00e8s direct \u00e0 la Cour pour les citoyens tanzaniens, apr\u00e8s \u00e9puisement des recours internes.
