The highlight of the trainings was the active engagement and interactions between facilitators and participants to the trainings. While more than 80 people actively participated in the Anglophone training, the Francophone training saw participation of around 150 individuals. Facilitators to the training included experts in the African Human Rights system and officials from the African Human Rights mechanisms.\u00a0<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The trainings primarily aimed at equipping African CSOs and human rights defenders with the necessary basic knowledge and tools to understand and enhance engagement with the regional African Human Rights mechanisms, beyond their national borders in order to specifically promote and protect the rights of women and girls in Africa. The sessions also familiarized participants with key principles and instruments in the promotion and protection of women\u2019s and girls\u2019 rights in Africa, relevant jurisprudence, and specific approaches of the African Court, the African Commission, and the ACERWC concerning violations of women&#8217;s and girls&#8217; rights. Particular emphasis was placed on encouraging the adoption of a gender perspective when dealing with cases and\/or issues involving girls&#8217; and women&#8217;s rights both at national level as well as when engaging with the African Human Rights mechanisms. \u00a0The trainings also served as a platform to identify challenges faced by CSOs in the utilization of such mechanisms. Participants also had an opportunity to practically work on hypothetical cases in active group discussions and later on gave their feedback. \u00a0<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After the trainings, participants expressed an increased sense of confidence to interact with the mechanisms to address and defend women&#8217;s and girls&#8217; rights.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The Lusophone capacity building training on women\u2019s and girls\u2019 rights and engagement with the African Human Rights mechanisms will be held from 23-26 June 2025 instead of the initial planned date of 2-5 June 2025.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">The African Court Coalition is grateful to GIZ under the GIZ African Union AWARE Project which enabled organization of these important trainings.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div id=\"e-n-tab-content-2309155702\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"e-n-tab-title-2309155702\" data-tab-index=\"2\" style=\"--n-tabs-title-order: 2;\" class=\" elementor-element elementor-element-504f4b8 e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"504f4b8\" data-element_type=\"container\">\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-065068f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"065068f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Au cours des deux derni\u00e8res semaines, la Coalition pour la Cour Africaine (CCA) a organis\u00e9 deux formations intensives en ligne sur le renforcement des capacit\u00e9s des Organisations de la Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Civile (OSC) et des d\u00e9fenseurs des droits humains concernant les droits des femmes et des filles ainsi que leur engagement avec les m\u00e9canismes africains des droits de l&#8217;homme. Ces m\u00e9canismes incluent : la Cour Africaine des Droits de l&#8217;Homme et des Peuples (AfCHPR), la Commission Africaine des Droits de l&#8217;Homme et des Peuples (ACHPR) et le Comit\u00e9 Africain d&#8217;Experts sur les Droits et le Bien-\u00eatre de l&#8217;Enfant (ACERWC).<\/p><p>La formation anglophone s&#8217;est d\u00e9roul\u00e9e du 19 au 22 mai 2025, suivie de la formation francophone du 26 au 29 mai 2025. L&#8217;\u00e9l\u00e9ment cl\u00e9 de ces sessions a \u00e9t\u00e9 l&#8217;interaction et l&#8217;engagement actifs entre les facilitateurs et les participants. Plus de 80 personnes ont pris part \u00e0 la formation anglophone, tandis que la formation francophone a rassembl\u00e9 environ 150 participants. Parmi les formateurs figuraient des experts du syst\u00e8me africain des droits humains ainsi que des repr\u00e9sentants des m\u00e9canismes africains des droits de l&#8217;homme.<\/p><p>Ces formations avaient pour objectif principal d&#8217;\u00e9quiper les OSC africaines et les d\u00e9fenseurs des droits humains des connaissances et des outils n\u00e9cessaires pour mieux comprendre et renforcer leur engagement avec les m\u00e9canismes r\u00e9gionaux des droits de l&#8217;homme en Afrique, au-del\u00e0 des fronti\u00e8res nationales, afin de promouvoir et prot\u00e9ger les droits des femmes et des filles. Les sessions ont permis aux participants de se familiariser avec les principes et instruments cl\u00e9s relatifs \u00e0 la promotion et \u00e0 la protection des droits des femmes et des filles en Afrique, la jurisprudence pertinente, ainsi que les approches sp\u00e9cifiques de la Cour Africaine, de la Commission Africaine et de l&#8217;ACERWC en mati\u00e8re de violations des droits des femmes et des filles. Une attention particuli\u00e8re a \u00e9t\u00e9 port\u00e9e \u00e0 l&#8217;int\u00e9gration d&#8217;une perspective de genre dans le traitement des cas et des probl\u00e9matiques li\u00e9es aux droits des filles et des femmes, tant au niveau national qu&#8217;\u00e0 travers les m\u00e9canismes africains des droits de l&#8217;homme. Ces formations ont \u00e9galement permis d&#8217;identifier les d\u00e9fis rencontr\u00e9s par les OSC dans l&#8217;utilisation de ces m\u00e9canismes.
