VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT: PROGRAM OFFICER
African Court Coalition2023-08-31T22:36:27+03:00The African Court Coalition is seeking applications from competent, dynamic, and self-motivated individuals to fill the position of Program Officer to support its project activities.
Contract Nature: One year renewable depending on the availability of funds
Location: Arusha, Tanzania
Language Requirement: The Program Officer must be fluent in English and French
Job Description
The Program Officer will provide support to the Coalition project activities and ensure that all program activities are implemented efficiently, timely, and in line with the values of the organization.
The Program Officer will be responsible to provide support in the following program areas;
i. Coalition building and organizational development which include but not limited to the following areas;
a) Campaign to increase effective Coalition membership and visibility
b) Fund raising and Donor relation
c) Promotion of the Coalition visibility through communication and information sharing using traditional and new information technologies
ii. Public awareness, advocacy and capacity building which include but not limited to the following areas;
a) Public awareness and advocacy activities on the African Court and the merged Court
b) African Court users’ dialogue platforms
c) Capacity building for African Court users and Member States
d) Advocacy activities and awareness on the African Human Rights System
iii. Research and Publication
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
• Implementation of project activities in accordance with grant requirements and work plans
• Assist in designing innovative program interventions consistent with the Coalition’s program objectives and budgets
• Assist in developing and monitoring annual work plans, program initiatives, and budget development including coordination and operationalization of project result framework
• Conduct research on matters relevant to program activities
• Manage the Coalition Membership Portal
• Update Coalition members and partners on Coalition activities and other relevant activities
• Prepare updates for the Coalition website and social media
• Participate in the development of project implementation plans, training and meeting agendas, and other various standard operational procedures
• Participate in meetings with the African Court, Coalition donors, and other stakeholders
• Prepare material for advocacy, training, conferences, and other events
• Mobilize program participants, the media, and stakeholders for events and program
• Assist in the preparations of Coalition publications, advocacy materials, activity reports, annual reports, funding proposals, and training materials
• Prepare timely submission of project activities reports in accordance with project requirements
• Update and maintain program files and program participants’ contacts for monitoring and evaluation purposes and internal reporting
• Work with other program personnel to monitor and evaluate the performance of the organization program activities; identify successes and failures and offer recommendations on relevant program adjustments
• Perform any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor
Qualifications
• Bachelor Degree in Law from a reputable and recognized university with specialization in International Law and/or Human Rights Law
• At least 3-4 years of experience working with international donor-funded NGO projects
• Experience in coordinating project activities and monitoring and evaluation
• Knowledge of the African Human Rights Systems and other regional Human Rights mechanisms
• Strong organizational abilities and time management skills
• Excellent research and writing skills and experience in writing reports and project proposals
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; fluency in English and French languages is essential; knowledge of other languages like Portuguese, Arabic and Swahili will be an added advantage
• Strong computer skill in MS Office is required; knowledge of basic information and communication technologies like Zoom, GlueUp, social medias, etc. is also desirable
