AFRICAN COURT COALITION HELD AN INTRODUCTORY WEBINAR FOR STUDENT MEMBERS

In the efforts to enhance younger generations’ awareness on the work of the African Court and to increase their interest in the African Human Rights system, the Coalition held an introductory webinar for its student members on 20 March 2025 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm East Africa Time.

A successful and engaging webinar was facilitated by the Coordinator of the Coalition, Ms. Sophia Ebby together with Mr. Nicholas Cheruiyot, a Legal Assistant of the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights. The webinar which included Francophone and Anglophone students was conducted in French and English language.

As part of its efforts to increase mobilization and awareness among diverse stakeholders to enhance the understanding of the work of the African Court, the Coalition launched a free membership program for African university students in 2024. The 2025 membership applications for students will be open in October 2025.

With this program, the Coalition hopes that student members will become catalysts in their respective institutions and communities, transmitting human rights values and principles beyond classrooms. It is also expected that Coalition student members will play an essential role as good ambassadors for the promotion and protection of human rights in Africa.
